Whaea Mem brought a whale bone and a whale tooth for us to look at.
The whale bone was from a white whale beached on ninety mike beach in the 1950s.
The tooth has been passed down through Whaea Mems family.
On Friday, it was our hub's turn to do assembly. We had learnt two songs. One, we created a slide show for using our children. This song came from the wonderful website waiatamai.co.nz/freedownloads/, which has lots of songs about different topics in Te Reo Maori. Here is a copy of the slide show.
Today it is Book Character Day at our school. We had a special assembly where we got to see all the children's and teachers costumes. Some children got prizes. Bob got to choose a book for his amazing costume. He is an alien from the book "Aliens love underpants!"
Last week in Kauri I brought some frozen dinosaur eggs to class! The children had the job of breaking open the eggs to reach the dinosaurs, which they loved!
We used this as their writing experience. The children first shared some amazing oral language about the experience, then they went away to write their stories. This is a selection of the fantastic stories they wrote and published.......
In Rooms Kaponga, Harakeke and Kopukapuka we celebrated 100 days at school. The children with the help of their whanau brought in many creative displays showing 100.
