Perceptual Motor Programme

Every Monday and Thursday morning, Hub 1 and some of Hub 2 are taking part in the Perceptual Motor Skills Programme (PMP). At Welcome Bay School we acknowledge the importance of developing children's perceptions and understanding of their world through planned movement and language activities. In each session the children rotate around 5 activities, spending 4 minutes at each.

The activities are fun and motivating and help develop the following skills:

    pmp
    • Balance
    • Hand-eye and foot-eye co-ordination
    • Body image and position in space
    • Locomotion and fitness
    • Auditory memory
    • Eye tracking

PMP helps the children with:

  • Concentration
  • Memory
  • Following instructions
  • Organising themselves

All of which are underlying skills necessary for Reading, Handwriting and Writing and  Maths.

Each of the five stations require adult assistance so thank you to all the fantastic parents who volunteer their time to help with this worthwhile programme.

Here are some pics from Mondays PMP session.
